Why a picture gallery? Well, I want to be able to offer readers who have never been to Southern France and in particular, Carcassonne and the Aude region, a flavour of what it is really like. In my opinion, photos published in holiday guides can sometimes seem a little contrived and what I would like to show is the "real" South of France - the South of France that makes thousands of holiday-makers want to come back year-after-year and what makes Carcassonne the most visited city in France, after Paris.

So, if you have any photos of our camping site or gite at Domaine La Royale, or of Carcassonne and the surrounding region that you would like to contribute to this page, please email them to the webmaster on the Contact Us  page. If you would like to add a witty caption to support the picture, please do. 

We are looking for pictures that capture that special camping "moment" or simply "ooze" holiday contentment or make you wanna laugh! They must be relevant to this region. For example - a picture of you falling of a bus in Paris might be very funny but not relevant to Carcassonne, Aude or Languedoc-Roussillon. However, a picture of you falling off a boat into the Canal du Midi or enjoying an enormous ice cream at Narbonne plage would be perfect!

And your photos don't have to be photographic "masterpieces" either. For technical reasons, if you have loads of photos that you would like to submit, please WINZIP  them.  

We never publish your full name, email or postal address unless you prefer otherwise.

I won't pay you anything for any photos that you submit and I can't promise that I will publish all of them but I will mention your name in the credits if you would like.

"Do we get snow here?" Yes, usually for a week in January and Hotty our Labrador, loves diving into the snow drifts!  Needless to say, we are grounded for one or two days but that's all part of the fun.  An incredible climate in Carcassonne - cold winters and very hot and dry summers. Personally, come the month of August, I long for days that are less than 25c but when they do arrive, I wish it were summer again!  There is not really a Spring season in Carcassonne - the weather lurches from winter to summer in just a few days in the first week of April - and then its hot until October. Drizzle and  grey skies are very uncommon. It's usually sunny with azure blue skies whatever the temperature. Fantastic! 

Weather Snippits: On the 31st March 2006, I recorded 23c in the shade and sunny with blue skies. On the 29th April 2005, the temperature reached  30c in the shade!
